Black Friday at Revolut
Black Friday deals and discounts at Revolut
For Black Friday shopping, Revolut can be used to pay for orders, organise a budget and exchange currencies. These functions are separate from a retailer's discount or a promotion for a particular plan. Assessing the benefit means considering the total payment cost, the type of card and the conditions that apply to your account.
Reusable or single-use virtual card
Revolut provides reusable virtual cards and single-use virtual cards. The first type can be used for repeated online purchases and, where supported, digital wallets. A single-use card changes its details after use and is intended for individual online payments. The two options therefore serve different payment arrangements.
Do not automatically choose a single-use card for a subscription, hotel reservation or car rental: these can involve recurring charges or pre-authorisations. For a regular Black Friday order, select the card according to how the merchant processes the transaction. A change to a single-use card's number does not, by itself, prevent a refund from being received.
Foreign-currency prices and the amount actually paid
An offer priced in euros or another currency needs to be assessed alongside the currency exchange. With Revolut, costs can depend on the plan, the included exchange allowance and when conversion takes place. Automatic exchanges made for card payments also count towards use of the exchange allowance.
When initiating a manual exchange in the app, the rate and any fees are shown before confirmation. However, do not assume the discount percentage on a retailer's website represents the final saving in Romanian lei. Add delivery and the order's other costs, then evaluate the total amount. For shopping in several currencies, keep track of the available budget and exchanges already made.
RevPoints are different from cash cashback
RevPoints is Revolut's points programme. Earning depends on the plan and transaction eligibility, while redemption has its own options and conditions. Officially described uses include airline miles, stays, activities and discounts with participating merchants through Revolut Pay. Points cannot necessarily be used at every store.
The round-up feature works differently: the difference created by rounding up transactions is used to buy points. Consequently, do not treat every point in the account as a free shopping reward. For a Black Friday basket, the relevant benefit is the actual reduction available at checkout, considered alongside any cost of acquiring the points. A points balance and a cash balance should not be compared as if they were the same thing.
Shopping budgets and choosing a plan
Virtual cards can be labelled, temporarily frozen and managed in the app, while a spending limit helps separate the budget for orders. You can organise purchases by purpose, such as gifts and electronics, without confusing a dedicated shopping card with a retailer discount. Keep order confirmations to reconcile them with the corresponding payments.
If considering a paid plan, place its subscription cost alongside the benefits you will actually use. Any Black Friday promotion may have eligibility rules concerning country, account, timing or activation. Read the conditions displayed in the app for your profile before changing plans; a campaign offered in another country does not establish that the same promotion applies in Romania.
