Black Friday at MyHeritage
Black Friday deals and discounts at MyHeritage
MyHeritage brings together genealogy research, family trees, historical records and DNA services. For Black Friday, the practical question is what you want to buy: a kit, record access or additional features for a family project. These products carry different costs and conditions, and a discount on one does not mean unrestricted access to every platform service.
A DNA kit and a subscription are different purchases
A MyHeritage DNA kit provides ethnicity estimates and DNA matches under the service’s conditions. Platform subscriptions may add research tools or record access, but they should not be confused with buying the kit itself. Read separately what the offer includes and what requires a later payment.
If your goal is investigating a family branch through documents and registers, a records subscription may address that need more directly than another kit. If genealogy testing is the aim, results should not be treated as a promise to find a particular relative or provide a complete answer about every ancestor.
A plan that suits your family tree
MyHeritage has a Basic tier and paid plans including Premium, PremiumPlus, Data, Complete and Omni. Tree limits, storage and included tools differ. A plan allowing a larger family tree does not automatically provide full access to historical-record collections.
Before a Black Friday purchase, estimate how many people you need to add and which feature your current project lacks. For a new tree, it may be enough to try organising your information before paying for a broader plan. For an established project, begin with the specific limitation you want to remove.
Records and matches worth investigating
An automatic match can point to a record or person worth examining, but it does not replace checking the information. Similar names need context from places, dates and family relationships. This is particularly important when researching people with common names.
When assessing a subscription, look for collections relevant to your family’s countries and periods. The platform’s overall record count does not tell you how much material is available for a particular Romanian town. Prepare names, spelling variations and approximate dates so that your access period can be used for focused research.
Introductory prices, renewal and total cost
Some MyHeritage plans renew automatically each year. For an offer, distinguish the initial-period price from the renewal cost and included features. Check the applicable date and conditions in your account, especially if you already subscribe or purchase a bundle containing a period of access.
For DNA kits, delivery of the kit and sending back the sample are separate stages with their own costs. Follow the current instructions for the country you are sending from rather than using an address found in an old guide. Allow time for these stages when planning a gift; results are not available immediately after purchase.
Choose a genealogy gift together
A DNA kit involves the tested person’s agreement, and activation includes privacy and consent choices. Discuss this before choosing such a gift. Whoever manages the kit should understand the results they control and what information may be visible through matching features.
For someone who prefers documentary research, a shared project can begin with family photographs, known names and places. A subscription chosen for that investigation has a clearer purpose than simply buying the largest available package. Retaining the source of each piece of information makes the family tree more valuable over time.
